I'm having. It's not that I don't have anything to do, that is never the case. I just posted on the etsy store two new flash card products that I have been trying to get out there for quite a while, things finally fell into place and they are ready to go.
The first is a sweet little framed flash card birth announcement of which I can't wait to hang all three of my kids in a row. I haven't decided where yet, maybe in our bedroom. But wouldn't this be the sweetest thing to bring to a new mother? And while she is opening the present, you get to hold the baby! It's a win-win!!!
The second are these "celebrate" flash cards which cover any occasion in need of a gift. I picture them tied around a bottle of wine with a great vintage ribbon. Or maybe hanging merrily from a gift bag. Or even an invitation written up on the back and mailed out to all your friends. Many uses, too long a time coming.
Then I am working on some windows for a couple of local fundraisers coming up fast. Luckily it isn't so freezing outside that the garage is actually tolerable to work in today. Prepping windows is not my favorite part of the project. So many steps...
1. Stripping off old tired caulk
2. sanding down rough surfaces
3. removing hardware
4. washing down all surfaces
5. waiting for that to dry
6. applying new caulk (man, I just have no patience for that stuff, bleeeech!)
7. putting on two coats of primer front and back
8. painting two coats of my favorite black paint, front and back
9. distressing the surfaces
10. finally applying two coats of clear sealer, yes, front and back.
Only after all that am I ready for the creative part. I always put it off as long as possible, but a solid foundation is the starting point of a really good piece of art in my book. Hopefully, these pieces will really help out the fundraisers & help give them the extra money for the coming year.
I've also got some orders to fill, some sketches to do to really get a firm idea of what I want to put on the windows when they are finally ready and I stupidly roasted a turkey today that my brother gave us for Christmas from his gobbling herd from last year. Of course, I made the cheesy corn everybody loves and the gravy and mashed potatoes, wouldn't you, too. I know! But I didn't think it through, there is football on tv and a drowsiness coming over me like the heavy fog outside (what is up with this weather by the way...fog? Seriously?) Ghosts of Thanksgivings past are calling to me and I am trying to steer clear of rooms with couches or beds...wish me luck!
